Hmmm... what about velvet ribbon around the base? (There are some great etsy sellers) Or broken twigs?
Can you post DIY directions on how you made your cake toppers?? They are ADORABLE and I would LOVE to make them myself for my wedding!

Okay, this could be completely stupid, but... could you heat the knife (or whatever you use to shorten the cinnamon stick) to a very high temp and kind of size the stick that way... as opposed to just snapping it? Think a hot knife on butter... but with a much more dense material. Who knows? I may be crazy.
