{diy} cake toppers..almost there!

here is where i am with the cake topper:
front.
back.
fh thinks it needs some more...stuff. flowers, shrubbery, etc. but i kind of like it simple..the only thing i know it needs is something around the base. i originally wanted to do cinnamon sticks..but i can't cut them short enough without breaking.

any ideas?

NICE!

Hmmm... what about velvet ribbon around the base? (There are some great etsy sellers) Or broken twigs?

Can you post DIY directions on how you made your cake toppers?? They are ADORABLE and I would LOVE to make them myself for my wedding!

By the looks of the Cake Toppers your FH must be a pretty handsome fella!

Okay, this could be completely stupid, but... could you heat the knife (or whatever you use to shorten the cinnamon stick) to a very high temp and kind of size the stick that way... as opposed to just snapping it? Think a hot knife on butter... but with a much more dense material. Who knows? I may be crazy.
